Think your Job is Tough? Be a Mom!
They say that being a Mother is the hardest job on earth, when it’s done right. More and more I have to agree with that statement.
Serophina is a bright and energetic little girl and I’m finding it harder and harder to keep up with her! Just like any kid, she has the stamina that would put any Olympic athlete to shame. Thank God she goes to preschool twice a week, because I think she would get really bored at home with me all the time.
I don’t let her watch too much TV. for several reasons. The first one, obviously being that it’s just not good for them. They gain so much more from personal interaction and using their imaginations. I also think that most children’s programming is rubbish. She’s really into animals so she likes to watch Animal Planet or Bindi the Jungle Girl, and these are educational programs which I believe won’t destroy brain cells like most other kiddie shows.
We usually spend our days painting, doing puzzles, playing outside, etc. She loves helping us do everything, so she’s right by my side when I’m cooking, emptying the washer, or on the computer.
Lukily, she’s really great about playing by herself too. I’m thankful for these moments throughout the day because it gives me a chance to rest my mind a little.
My point is that it really is challenging to raise a child the right way. Coming up with new activities and being “on” all the time is tiring! But I want her to learn from everything that we do and I’m proud of how much she already knows.
It may be challenging for me, but I consider it an investment in my child. I can’t wait to see the return that I get on it!
