Serophina’s Dad is in the Coast Guard, so she has overheard our frequent conversations about the oil spill in the Gulf right now. She, of course is always listening and always has to be in the know, so I thought it would be interesting to get her perspective on what exactly is an oil spill. Me: What is an oil spill? Serophina: A oil spill is like some kind of oil and uh, it gets the animals all stuck and so I don’t like oil spills cause that tries to get me stuck but I’m a smart girl, that’s what’s a oil spill. Me: How are the animals gonna get out? Serophina: Dad, he’s gonna save them. He’s going to get them unstuck so they can go back to their families. Me: What is he going to do to save them? Serophina: Stop the oil spill. That’s how you save

For the past few weeks I have been dreading Sundays. Nora is no longer a sweet angelic baby who cuddles with you and giggles all during mass. She is now a toddling toddler, who doesn’t want to be held, can’t stand to be still and screams without warning. Last week alone I had to walk to the back of the church five times! I finally left for good and went to the cry room for the duration of the mass. To reach the cry room you have to walk outside, to another building, and to a small room with the mass on TV. It is not my ideal way to experience mass. I am dreading having this same behavior repeat itself over and over again during the months of Garrett’s deployment. Therefore I decided this week to try something new. My parents and one priest had given me this tip

I’ve been blogging for quite some time on my personal blog and I’ve made a lot of good friends that I’ve never actually met in person. We had all planned to join forces at the conference and have a fabulous time! Of course, a traveling mother of five who is married to a Marine who is away has QUITE the time finding a way for her children to be taken care of for five days. I had originally planned to have my dad fly up and stay with the kids. I bought him a ticket and told the kids that PawPaw would be staying with them for a while during my trip. They were totally stoked and couldn’t wait! Unfortunately, things took a turn for

I have seen the older kids at daycare throw some pretty impressive fits, but I assumed that my sweet little Isaac was nowhere near that stage… Boy was I wrong! My son showed me just how wrong I was the other day when I dared to take away a toy he was playing with when we were cleaning up. Isaac had been fine up until that point, happily zooming a little green car back and forth on the carpet, lost in his own little world of NASCAR fantasies. So when I swiped his car after telling him it was time to clean up (not like he knew what I meant, oh well) I was the meanest mom ever and he let me know it in a particularly loud and obnoxious fashion. First his face got bright red as he inhaled a huge breath. Then he opened his mouth and let
