Don’t Stop Using Your Pacifier!!!
Let me start off by saying I’ve never had a kid who sucks their thumb or uses a pacifier, not until Gus. Gus was my first child to actually be really addicted to his pacifier. It started out as his thumb, but he moved on to the paci after about a month or so and he had to have it with him at all times.
If I was ever caught without a paci, I’d be in big trouble. He needed it in the car, he needed it to sleep with, he needed it to play with, he needed it at every minute of every day and to be quite honest with you, I loved it. I know, I know, I’m crazy. What mom would actually LOVE that her child will need to be weaned from a paci eventually? There was just something about Gus and his paci that made my heart melt. He loved it so much and it was such a comfort to him that I loved seeing him with it.
The last few weeks have been tough around our house because, like I mentioned before in another post, Gus has been teething like CRAZY. His two front teeth are breaking through and he is in a TON of pain. Because of this, he hasn’t wanted his paci in his mouth, EVER. I’m assuming because it rubs on the front part of his gums and hurts him.
Now that his teeth are almost all the way through, I started bringing out his paci again and offering it to him and guess what? He is NOT interested AT ALL. And me? I’m heartbroken!!!!!!
Is this normal? Has anyone else had a child who loved their paci SO MUCH and then just dropped it like a hot cake overnight? As crazy as this may sound, is there any chance for a Gussy and paci reunion so they can rekindle their long lost love for each other?
I know I should just be thankful my kid doesn’t want it anymore because it will save me a lot of future strife, but I can’t help but feel sad inside!! What is wrong with me?!

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s not so much about the paci and more about the fact that your last baby is growing up.
