Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Don’t Stop Using Your Pacifier!!!

Let me start off by saying I’ve never had a kid who sucks their thumb or uses a pacifier, not until Gus.  Gus was my first child to actually be really addicted to his pacifier.  It started out as his thumb, but he moved on to the paci after about a month or so and he had to have it with him at all times.  If I was ever caught without a paci, I’d be in big trouble.  He needed it in the car, he needed it to sleep with, he needed it to play with, he needed it at every minute of every day and to be quite honest with you, I loved it.  I know, I know, I’m crazy.  What mom would actually LOVE that her child will need to be weaned from a paci eventually?  There was just something about Gus and his paci that made my

Sleep Training. What’s Your Take On It?

If you ever want to spark a discussion in a group of moms, one thing you can bring up is how to sleep train your child. There are as many varying opinions on this matter as there are flavors of ice cream. When Serophina was old enough to start sleeping in a crib, it was an almost nightly battle of her crying and fighting and calling out “mama!” reaching her little arms out from between the crib rails as if she was locked in a prison cell. It was heartbreaking! I remember dreading putting her down for the night because she just didn’t want to go to sleep on her own. I went through agonizing feelings of guilt wondering if I was doing the right thing. I bought many books on the subject but didn’t agree with most of the methods of letting your baby “cry it out”. Eventually, we

The Monotonous Side of Motherhood

Have you ever noticed that sometimes being a Mom is kind of monotonous? I feel like I do something and then five seconds later have to redo it. It never ends. There is no you’re done thanks for all of your hard work, Mom, I’ll keep the house clean. It’s MORE crumbs to sweep, MORE toys to clean up, MORE snotty noses to wipe, MORE dishes to unload, MORE dishes to load, MORE laundry to do. I could go on, and on, and on. I miss the college years where I could do a super clean and then sit on my butt and relax for at least a week. I’ve found that if I want a clean house there is no such thing as sitting on my butt when I have kids around. Just the other day I was commenting to my friend Lisa that sometimes I feel like my

Huggies Crosses The Line (Video)

When I think of the word fuddy-duddy, I imagine an old grandma-looking woman in a turtleneck blouse with her hair pulled back in a tight bun.  She frowns as she points her finger in disgust at the younger generation who are currently ruining the world with their lack of morals and rock and roll music.  I’m not sure why this woman is my proverbial fuddy-duddy, but it works for me. I always swore I was going to be an anti-fuddy-duddy woman.  I was going to be a fun mom, a cool mom, a HIP mom.  I wouldn’t sneer when I saw things that were out of the norm, nor would I point a crooked finger at things I didn’t like.  Unfortunately, I may have to pull my hair back in a tight bun, buy a turtleneck blouse, and shake my finger for shame after watching the new Huggies denim diaper commercial.  This commercial–if

Isaak is Two!

Last week my Izey guy turned two!  Can you believe that?  I surely can’t.  It feels like just a few months ago I gave birth to him.  Oh wait, maybe I’m confusing him with Gussy’s birth, I tend to do that a lot. Ok, but for real, he’s TWO!!  Is it just me or does anyone else notice that their kids’ personalities and behaviors change DRASTICALLY within days of their birthday?  You’re going to think I’m a nut, but I SWEAR Isaak acts SO GROWN UP now.  It’s like he went to bed as a baby and woke up as a two year old!  He says SO many new words, he speaks in sentences, he helps around the house, he obeys, he throws two year old fits, he puts on his own shoes, and he even gets his own clothes out of his drawers!  Granted, some of the changes aren’t
