Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Isaac The Scavenger

I have noticed at daycare Isaac portrays a certain notorious member of the food chain:  the scavenger! Just like a hyena or vulture on the nature shows, he lurks on the African savanna among the high grass…and by “savanna” I mean the baby dining room and by “high grass” I mean stuffed animals and toys, of course. When the other babies are up in their high chairs eating their snacks, Isaac begins to stalk them based on what is on the menu. The usual fare of Puffs and Lil’ Crunchies are somewhat interesting to him, but the big winners are things he knows he cannot have yet, such as cookies, grapes, and mac n’ cheese. Isaac keeps his eyes on the prize, or prizes depending on the snack selection, and lays in wait.  Sometimes he hides in one of the baby tunnels or behind a baby bike, and other times

Documenting Baby’s First Year

I kept a pregnancy journal while waiting for Sayle’s arrival.  I documented weekly on what we were doing to get ready for the baby, my doctors appointments, what I was feeling, etc.  My journal was called “The Belly Book” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and I loved it.  This journal was a weekly play by play about what was going on, gave me the opportunity to write whatever I wanted to, so this journal basically turned into my pregnancy scrapbook.  Unfortunately, when Sayle was born there was not a baby book to follow up the belly book.    You would think being that I documented my pregnancy so well that I would document Sayle’s first year just as well.  I’m sad to say that I haven’t and I am kicking myself today because of it.  Don’t get me wrong, I have written tons of stuff down, I just have all my documentation

I’ll take a 10, 7 & 5-year-old Please!

I contemplated writing this post as a guest post on TweenBeat since it deals so much with my older children, but I decided I wanted to share it here on Cuddlebugs because I want to make all you other toddler/baby moms jealous of the AMAZING helpers I have!! Everyday…ok wait I take that back, NOT everyday because I’m not brave enough to venture out of the realms of my house, but every TIME I go out of the house and into the big wide world of stores and the fast paced life that we all live, I’m always confronted by at LEAST one person that says to me, “Wow, you really have your hands full” or “…five kids, how do you do it?!” I used to get totally annoyed by these remarks.  “Uhmm, YES, I have my hands full and I don’t need you to point that out to me

When I’m an Adult

Isn’t it funny how when we’re kids all we want to do is grow up so we can do all the things that older people do? Like having the freedom to eat sweets right before bed, crossing the street without holding hands, staying at the playground all day if you wanted. My 3-year -old can’t wait to be an “andult”. (Whenever she hears us say adult it’s always preceded by an.. “an adult” so she thinks the word is andult.) One random morning at preschool, she told all of her teachers and anyone else walking by that when she grew up to be an andult she could drink coffee, soda, beer and diet coke. She spoke with such enthusiasm you’d think she’d just discovered the New World. Everyday I feel like she’s growing so fast, soaking up new concepts and coming up with her own ideas. One definite way I

Allergic To…

I LOVE strawberries.  I could eat them all day long, no joke.  They may very well be the greatest fruit ever “invented!” We journeyed to a local farmer’s market last weekend for a fun, food-filled adventure, and I was in strawberry heaven!  All fresh and organic and delicious! After sampling one to make sure it was yummy (ha ha yeah right it was just because I couldn’t resist any longer!) I offered a beautiful red fruit to Isaac, who was eyeballing them hungrily. He chowed down!  I thought at first my son might want to lick it or grab it, but no, he just stuffed the whole thing in his mouth like it was nothing. The look on his face was priceless; it was as if Isaac’s tongue could not decide whether this was a good taste and texture combo or a bad one, but in the end he decided

Recurring Ear Infections-What To Do

I am officially over ear infections!  Sayle got his first ear infections in January 2010 and has managed to get double ear infections every month this year; that’s 10 ear infections total!  While I can appreciate consistency in most forms, I am tired of them ailing my poor Sayle!  January’s Ear Infections-Started with a cold and a low grade fever.  The next day his right eye was very runny, he was fussy, and his cold got worse giving him a crusty runny nose.  The pediatrician informed me he had a “bulging” ear infection in his right ear (runny eye side) and a really bad ear infection in the left ear.  We were given Amoxicillin and Pediahist DM.   February’s Ear Infections-This month we didn’t have a runny eye, but we did have a screaming fussy baby with a runny nose and a very high fever.  He was also pulling at his
