Hey there! I never really know how to introduce myself properly but here it goes. I am originally from New York but when my husband joined the Marine Corps we had to move to Jacksonville, NC. I absolutely love the south. The people are nicer, the weather is better, and it's a great place to raise a family. Which is why I'm here. My husband and I have a beautiful daughter Abigail Yvonne. He has been deployed for her first year but will be coming home shortly. It will be an interesting transition that I look forward to sharing with you! My life might not be all that interesting but being a mom sure is! Follow my blogs and see what I'm talking about.

I grew up in here in North Carolina and attended Duke for my undergraduate and UNC-Chapel Hill for my master’s degrees. I moved up north to Boston after completing school and worked there for five years as an inner-city middle and high school history teacher. While in Boston, I met my husband, Chad, who was there for school, and we were married the summer of 2004. 2007 was a big year for us – we welcomed our son, Nathan, Chad finished school, and we moved to Jacksonville for a great job opportunity for Chad. Nineteen months after Nathan was born, our daughter, Emily, joined our family. Twenty-two months later, Joshua came along. I’m now a stay-at-home mom to my little brood, having “retired” from teaching after Nathan’s arrival. When I’m not busy feeding, cleaning, dressing, and keeping up with Nathan, Emily, Joshua, and their dad, I enjoy reading, quilting, and going to the beach. I also still cheer for my beloved Blue Devils whenever the opportunity arises and thoroughly enjoyed last season’s national championship. Go Duke! Life can be a little busy around here (hello – three kids under the age of four!), but I’m looking forward to sharing life with three active little ones with you.

Baby On Board, So Back Off!

When I am driving I like to read the bumper stickers and magnets and whatnot on the cars in front of me.  It keeps my attention on the road and passes the time.  I like the little family ones and the military ones, and can’t stand the “git-er-done” ones.

With this said, I have a couple on my vehicle.  I never wanted to be a bumper sticker person because I thought it looked tacky and messy, but now my car has 4 stickers, 2 magnets, and a sign!

My first was a small Maryland flag sticker, to commemorate when my move to North Carolina became official and I had to trade in my license plates.  Then came the Chinese symbol for dream, which my husband gave me because it is meaningful to us.  After that I was given a Border Collie sticker because of our dogs, and next I bought a Christian fish sticker in hopes of some extra Jesus protection while driving with all these crazies out on the roads!baby

I also obtained a pet rescue magnet when I adopted my dogs from the pound, and my husband made me a “Baby Rockstar” magnet which I have yet to put on because it is way too cute to go on my car.

My most recent “car ornament” has been one of those silly Baby On Board signs; you know, the yellow diamond shaped ones with the black letters that you see all over the place.  I slapped that bad boy on as soon as I found out I was pregnant!  I viewed that sign as kind of a warning to others on the road that I was carrying precious cargo so they better watch out!  No funny business please like tailgating me or else!  Or else what, I have no idea, but it sounded good in my head…

I was thinking that no one would bother me know, what with the Jesus fish on one side and the baby on board on the other; I was untouchable!

Yeah right, I think these stickers actually seemed to make other drivers more obnoxious than usual!  I know I am a grandma driver that usually goes the speed limit, and that is why I stay in the slow lane.  For some reason people go out of their way to stay right on my bumper.  Not cool.

READ the stickers!  RESPECT the stickers!

Sarah, I have a confession. I never paid one lick of attention to the Baby on Board sticker until I actually had a Baby on Board. I think that is because I actually slowed my speed down enough to read stickers since I had Sayle in the car. I do respect the stickers now as I have an understanding of transporting precious cargo.
I appreciate the fact that you respect the slow lane rule-I wish everyone would. Tailgating in the slow lane is not cool!

Well I am glad that you respect the sticker! Now if only you would stop riding my bumper, haha (:
Yeah I’m all over the slow lane, it’s just me and the grannies.
