Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Awesome Baby Toys That Are Not Baby Toys

I have scientific proof that babies may in fact prefer random stuff around the house to actual baby toys!

Ok, maybe not scientific, but Isaac has informed me that he would rather play with certain household items than his crinkle book or mama hippo, such as balloons, plastic cups, dangling potholders, and of course my phone and car keys.

Peek-a-boo!

Peek-a-boo!

The winner, at least for today, is the helium balloon that a friend gave him at a recent b-day party.  My son took one look at that floating friend and it was love at first sight!  He grabbed it and punched it and tried to bite it, and repeated this for quite a while.

Needless to say the balloon of happiness has been tied onto his walker since Saturday and it follows him everywhere.  Isaac has also figured out how to grab the string and pull the balloon down to him so he can attack it when he feels the need.

The plastic cups and Tupperware containers amuse him as well because they can be thrown around and chewed on and make a satisfactory noise when they hit the floor.  I like these as toys because they don’t break but I seem to be picking them up every two seconds only to have them thrown again, and so on.

We have a cute potholder that Marissa made last summer hanging on one of the kitchen cabinets and since it is right at eye-level with Isaac when he is in his walker, it is a constant source of “must have” syndrome for him.

The cell phone and keys are a classic baby distraction, but as a germaphobe I won’t let him touch them, so I guess it is kind of a tease to let him listen to the phone and shake the keys at him without allowing them in his mouth, oh well, I’m sure he will be calling and driving soon enough, hopefully not at the same time (:

What does your baby like to play with, aside from actual toys?

Balloons are always a favorite in this house too! Perhaps Fisher Price should take notice! Sayle plays with all kinds of “fun and unsafe” household items, hence why my house is on lock down. Can’t wait for you to his this fun filled milestone! :)

Yay I’m sure I will be asking for your help when that happens…right now Isaac is still creeping, so it might be soon, we’ll see. Gotta love how they want the “fun and unsafe” variety, right? Our latest fave is the trashcan, ew!
