The Epic Battle Of Breast To Bottle
Picture this: my hungry son being offered a delicious nutritious bottle of freshly pumped milk, and deciding to voice his displeasure at this outrageous offense by chucking it across the room and screaming his head off.

Ok I will chew on it but no way am I drinking it! (Pedialite in bottle, no I do not produce orange milk)
This is part of our daily ritual in which I attempt (unsuccessfully) to trick, um…I mean teach Isaac to take a bottle from me. I would love to train him to be just a tad more accepting of anything besides what is under my shirt, because we have a road trip coming up for spring break and I would really really like to not have to stop every several hours to feed this fellow.
I see moms out at the store or the playground or wherever handing a bottle to their fussy babies and like magic the child takes that bottle and drinks happily, allowing mom some well deserved time (and sanity). Show me, please, I want to beg them, and soon I just might, because Isaac is much more stubborn than me and usually wins these battles.
Occasionally he will give me a ray of hope by chewing on the nipple or taking a swallow, but then it’s like he suddenly remembers “hey, this is definitely NOT my mom, forget it!” and throws a fit.
Now I do understand why he doesn’t want to make this change, especially when he has been breastfed forever and has only taken bottles from other adults, but come on kid, work with me! Isaac is great when I feed him baby food, but not milk, not a chance, grrr.
I try to explain to Isaac that he will still be breastfed several times a day, just not as much as he is used to. Also that I am not weaning him until he is at least a year, so he’s got another four months or so, but he refuses to even consider these options. Reasoning with a baby is tough (:
If you have won this battle, please share how!
