I have always had HIDEOUS heartburn with every pregnancy, including my last, so I KNEW that my August would be born with a head full of hair. Sure enough, he didn’t cease to amaze me.
From day one, his hair has been really long and really REALLY tall. I’m talkin’, it sticks straight up, ALL the time. It’s awesome. As I’ve said before, everywhere we go, people are always lovin’ on his fro.
Well, last week when I had a few friends over, one of them mentioned how Gus’ hair is starting to look like a greasy old man’s because it was getting so long. I didn’t know whether to take that as a compliment or a hint that he needed a haircut. I don’t offend easily and I decided that it was definitely a hint. The more I looked at his messy mop, the more I knew it was time for the dreaded first haircut.
What is it about the first haircut? It seriously hurts my heart to cut off hair from my baby’s head that has been there since before he was born. Am I the only one who feels this way?
After talking myself into doing the duty, and gaining the courage to pull out the clippers, I put them to my baby’s tiny head and started buzzin’ away. He was oblivious to the fact that his hairdo would soon be transformed into more of a boy look instead of a baby look or should I say, “greasy old man” look?
I trimmed up the sides real nice (which is where the greasy issue was) but I just couldn’t bring myself to cut any length from the top. It’s just TOO perfect how it stands all tall and proud up there on his itty bitty head. Now, granted, he does have a faux hawk, I think it’s perfect and even though I’m biased, I’m pretty sure I’m right!
Whadya think about it?!
