Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

My Kid Will Eat Anything, Part 1

I’ve heard time and time again from other parents that children will eat anything. That’s why when Nora started crawling I took extra care when cleaning the floors and always keep my eye out for little things on the floor Nora might try to eat or choke on.

Recently a few friends came over to my house to let our kids play and to talk about the babysitting co-op. During the play date one of my friends asked if she could change her daughter’s poopy diaper in the living room. I have absolutely no problem with that. I typically change Nora on my lap whether it’s in the car, at the beach or sitting on the couch. My friend is one of those skilled Moms who can change her children’s diaper while they’re standing. My friend not only changed her third child’s diaper while she was standing – she did it while holding her fourth child.

Later in the afternoon after everyone had left my friend Sarah came by for a visit with her daughter Hannah. Nora and Hannah were playing happily together when Sarah asked me, “Do you smell poop? I think one of our daughters pooped.”

“No, I don’t” I replied. “It couldn’t be Nora though. Nora went at 5:30am and she only goes once a day these days.”

Sarah smelled near both of our daughters and didn’t smell anything anymore. We chalked it up to one of them passing gas and continued our conversation.

Then I noticed Nora was chewing on something. “Did you give Nora something to eat?” I asked. “No” Sarah replied.  I then ran to Nora and began finger sweeping to get the offending object out Sarah began looking around for what Nora could have possibly eaten.

She held up a partially chewed book and said, “I think she ate this. See how the corner is missing?”

Well I knew very well that book had been eaten nearly two months ago and I had already finger swept that cardboard chunk out of her mouth. So it had to be something else.

Just then Garrett walked in. “What’s going on?” He asked.

What do you think Nora ate?
